To that end we are seeking a motivated individual with an interest in housing counseling or becoming a future Housing Counselor.  This Housing Counselor will work with clients on all aspects of homeownership while assisting them with the purchase of a home or to overcome mortgage delinquency.

TRIP & RCHR NeighborWorks HomeOwnership Center seeks a motivated individual with an interest in all aspects of homeownership.  This individual will develop financial and counseling expertise to assist customers with the purchase of a home or to overcome mortgage delinquencies. Don’t have the skills? That’s okay!  This candidate will have the opportunity to build professional skills to help clients to find remedies to transition into sound, affordable mortgage products and viable solutions for the future.


Key components of this position include strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, a working knowledge of budgeting and credit, and the ability to convey suggestions/ideas in a constructive, non-judgmental manner. Training is provided. Few nights and weekends required for this position.


Minimum Requirements


Customer service orientation, friendly approach in person and on telephone
Manner that enables customers to establish their goals, develop a work plan, and then facilitates the accomplishment of the goals/work plan
Provide counseling to homeowners, including reviewing financials, credit and loan products to help determine a clients possible options
Ability to communicate with diverse client base
Assist clients in completing applications
Ability to do full-financial analysis with customers
Keep communication lines open between 3rd parties; including servicers, and lenders, and the client to ensure the required information has been provided and is reviewed in a timely manner
Stay current on industry best practice; increase professional skills through annual
continuing education
Utilize software to create case profiles for all clients; perform timely data entry of all case notes and profile updates
Ability to follow up with client files and gather required client documentation
Comfortable leading groups, workshops, and training
Applicant Qualifications


Proficient at Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher
Take and pass the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Certified exam within the first 12 months of employment
Detail oriented, strong customer service background, excellent written and oral
communication skills

Demonstrate ability to exercise good judgement and maintain confidentiality
Ability to maintain tact and diplomacy when working with varied populations of diverse backgrounds.
Spanish or 2nd language a plus
Salary commensurate with experience
